Why the feed starts to feel like it knows exactly what will hold your attention.
At first, the feed feels random.
Then slowly, it starts to feel personal.
You pause on one video.
Skip another.
Watch one topic longer.
Rewatch something.
Open the comments.
Share one post.
Each action teaches the system something.
Not necessarily who you are as a whole person. But what keeps you watching right now.
That is why the feed can become so hard to leave.
It learns your curiosity.
Your boredom.
Your fears.
Your humor.
Your weak moments.
Your “just one more” topics.
The algorithm does not need to understand your life.
It only needs to predict what might keep your thumb moving for a little longer.
This is why willpower alone can feel unfair.
You are trying to stop one session. The system is learning from millions of tiny signals.
